"The children of today and tomorrow need to be surrounded by and provided the opportunity to flourish within the spirit of creativity. Without a strong effort around this for our children, we are limiting the opportunity for them as individuals and for society as a whole." — Tom Stillwell, Chief Executive Officer, Midnight Oil
In 2014 Inner-City Arts honored The Walt Disney Company with the Philanthropic Leadership Award for its unprecedented support over nearly two decades. The Creativity Lab, inspired by the vision of co-founder Bob Bates in 2011, and supported by a start-up grant from Disney, has emerged as a stimulating and supportive environment where youth can explore their creative and adaptive capabilities, evolving "at the hands" of the students, teaching artists, and Disney Imagineers. In celebration of our 25th Anniversary, The Walt Disney Company granted $1 million to Inner City Arts to support program development and expansion of the Creativity Lab through 2016. The funds will additionally be utilized to fund a Creativity Lab endowment. Inner-City Arts is working collaboratively with Disney to mobilize support for developing creative potential in young people across the nation.

In 2000, Younes and Soraya Sarah Nazarian founded the Y&S Nazarian Family Foundation. Enriching the lives of others through the arts and culture is an area of great importance to the family due to the work of Soraya Sarah Nazarian. Soraya is a Los Angeles-based artist who, in her more than 25-year career, has become a master in the medium of direct carving in stone. Her work carries themes of motherhood, family, spirituality and Iranian culture. Mrs. Nazarian has visited campus and worked with the students in our ceramic studios. Honoring Soraya, the Y&S Nazarian Family Foundation has provided a leadership gift to Inner-City Arts establishing the Soraya Sarah Nazarian Ceramics Academy for elementary, middle and high school students.
Soraya Nazarian was honored at the 2011 Imagine Awards for her exceptional artistic achievements, her dedication to pursuing her own creative path and her willingness to support young artists in developing their own voice.
"The special thing about the arts is that they require no language to express feelings or creativity."
