Care is at the heart of Inner-City Arts...

The dedicated instruction from our Teaching Artists; the hours spent meticulously preparing supplies and technology; the unique mentorship opportunities we forge for our young people in the community. Before this year ends, we ask that you support us in helping them find their voices, express their feelings, and build lifelong skills by making a contribution today.

Our Students Care!

Our Work of Art internship program, which employs high school students with career-building, art making work experiences, has become a successful training ground for hundreds of young people. This season, paid interns have been busy flexing their creativity, crafting delightful sticker designs that capture what "care" means to them.

Paired with an artist statement to describe their inspiration, these graphics are their way of saying thanks to you, our community of supporters. We hope these designs remind you of your favorite ways to give and receive care.

It's Ok To Not Feel Ok
by Alize Vianney Guzman

This creation represents how it's okay to not be okay. Everyone has good days, everyone has bad days; it's just a world with a work in progress."

Healing
by Alma Moreno

When I think about care, what instantly comes to mind is self-care. How can we properly care for and love others if we don’t care for ourselves first? With this piece, I wanted to emphasize this idea of taking time to work on building ourselves."

Your Imaginary Friend
by Cori Chapman

Sometimes, when you feel like no one cares, know that you will always have an imaginary friend who does. They might even bring you a cookie!!!"

A Helping Hand
by Gabrielle Lashley

Hands will always come to my mind with the word “care” because hands are what hold you, heal you, and make you feel at home. I wanted to highlight the comfort that hands can give someone in this piece."

Caring For Others
by Ishtinarah Quazi

One way to show care, especially when you can’t physically be there for someone, is to give a stuffed animal. I chose tulips for the sock monkey to hold because it represents  affection, well wishes, and care."

Made With Bear
by Jasmine Speights

On cold, winter days we are always reminded of warmth and care when we snuggle up with our teddy bears and a cup of hot chocolate. Teddy bears take us back to our childhood and offer a sense of comfort that is unmatched."

A Mother's Care
by Miriam Maldonado-Lopez

When I think about care, the first image that comes to mind is my mother. Without her care, I wouldn't be the person I am today."

Growing Out
by Roman Luna

When I think of care, what comes to mind is self-care and building up your confidence. This is an apple already fully grown, beautiful, and vibrant, with a worm that seems to be bursting out—a homage to the saying, 'break out of your shell.' Only now, that shell is an apple."

Together, we can open more doors to more creative futures and inspire hope for our young artists.
